The middle school cross country teams from Abilene went to Ellsworth to run on one of the toughest venues in the area. Even though the race was hard, two runners from Abilene still set personal bests and three runners came in first place.
The 8th grade boys kept up their good work by winning first place as a team. The 6th and 7th grade boys and girls also did well, coming in third. On the left is a picture of the 8th grade boys’ team that won first place as a whole.
As a whole, Elliott Engle (271), who ran in 13:20.55, came in fourth. Emil Pickerign (278), who came in eighth, ran 13:42.47, and Eden McCasey (275), who came in seventeenth, ran 14:56.79. Joshua Gustin (272) came in 28th with a time of 16:29.18 and Alec Wuthnow (281), who ran 20th, did so in 15:19.78.
Noah Pelfrey, who is also shown above, came in 11th place in the 7th grade race at 14:07.28. On the right, Whitney Kollhoff won the race for sixth and seventh grade girls in 13:52.04. Along with Zolie Ross (23:34.88), Cora Hedstrom (17:12.03) and Camdyn Hartwick (17:28.56) also ran for Abilene but were not in the picture.
